El Dorado State Park


Home to El Dorado Lake, El Dorado State Park is located just north of the town of El Dorado on the edge of the beautiful Flint Hills. The park is also home to a wide range of mammals, songbirds, game birds, fish, and waterfowl.

El Dorado State Park features four campgrounds with nearly 1,100 campsites and ten cabins. The campsites range from primitive to full-service. Two styles of cabins are available, including small one-room cabins with sleeping quarters and deluxe cabins with full service, including kitchen, restroom, sleeping quarters, and a screened-in porch.

El Dorado is one of the top State Parks in the nation for fishing and boating. El Dorado Lake is home to Blue Catfish, Walleye, Wipers, and Slab Crappie. The lake is home to a new shooting range and archery range near the Shady Creek camping area in the southern portion of the State Park.

The El Dorado Bike Path is a paved multi-use trail constructed by the City of El Dorado. The trail starts from two locations in the city and ends as it crosses the bridge into the Walnut River Campground connecting downtown El Dorado to the El Dorado State Park. It is home to a number of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails that give visitors spectacular views of wooded areas, the Flint Hills, and the lake.

Pets must always be restrained by a camper, cage, hand-held leash, or tethered chain no longer than 10 feet. They are not allowed on swimming beaches or swimming areas that are delineated by buoys or other markers or in public buildings or structures.
